Kyrie Irving, sidelined for over a year with an ACL tear and last seen on court on March 3, 2025, is reportedly preparing for his return to action.

Despite several teams attempting to acquire the 34-year-old guard over the summer, Dallas emphatically rejected all trade offers, signaling their intent to keep Irving. In the summer of 2025, the guard even inked a three-year, $119 million deal with the Texans.

However, according to Sean Deveney of Heavy Sports, the Mavericks' front office is pursuing a different strategy behind the scenes. Dallas reportedly plans to part ways with the veteran before the NBA trade deadline in February, as he no longer fits the team's new vision.
