The Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission, ICPC, apprehended the suspect identified as Owoyele Kolawole, for allegedly faking and being in possession of blank senior secondary school certificates.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge levelled against him.

In a statement issued by Rasheedat Okoduwa of ICPC, the suspect is alleged to have made false West African Senior School Certificates with no student information on it, and had the intention of filling them with student information at a later date, which would be used for genuine purposes.

ICPC's arrest of the suspects was initiated by a petition from the federal Ministry of Education on the growing occurrence of altered WASSCE results which are being presented for accreditation and endorsement by those seeking admission into foreign educational institutions.

The accused is also alleged to have run a syndicate which specialised in the production and sales of customised certificates to fraudulent applicants who are seeking admission into foreign institutions.

Kolawole had the specifics from genuine certificates transferred to the blank copies with alterations in the grades or ages, depending on the client's requests.

The presiding judge, Justice S. Adepoju ordered the accused remanded in prison, and adjourned the case to November 24 for hearing.
