Court remands Man, 22, in prison for raping 13-year-old girl

An Ota Magistrates' Court in Ogun on Tuesday remanded a 22-year-old man, Akeremisi Ola, in prison custody over alleged rape of a 13-year-old girl.

Ola, who resides at No. 8 Omole Estate, Ota, Ogun, is facing a charge of rape.

The Magistrate, Miss Temitope Adebutu, said the accused should be remanded in prison pending advice from the State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

The prosecutor, Sgt. Rosemary Samson, had told the court that the accused and five others still at large, committed the offence on Nov. 4 at about 3.00pm at his residence.

She said that the offence contravened Sections 358 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Vol. 1 Law of Ogun State, 2006.

The case was adjourned till Nov. 25 for mention.
