As far as cities go, New York  is pretty high up the food chain ranking as one of the most popular - and visited cities in the world.

But things are about to get even more awesome for this city that never sleeps as it's about to get free, city-wide FREE WI-FI.

The kiosks, called Links, will also feature a touch screen where users can browse the Internet, search directions, and even make phone calls.

Just when we though things couldn't get better, they did - connectivity is completely free!

The city plans to install up to 10,000 kiosks across all five boroughs throughout the next eight years, though the city can't confirm when the first of these will appear.

In a similar vein, governments from San Francisco and Hong Kong are rolling out free and paid Internet options.

Did New York City just get even cooler or what?
