Pereira opened the fight attempting high kicks and straight punches to his opponent's body. Gane, in turn, responded with low kicks and straight right hands. Both fighters maintained constant movement, changing their angles of attack. Midway through the round, the Frenchman feigned a takedown attempt before continuing his stand-up assault with hooks. Gane was more active in this segment, but Pereira landed two consecutive straight rights in the final seconds.

At the start of the second round, Pereira was rocked by a counter right hand and dropped to the canvas. Gane attempted to finish him with ground and pound, but the 38-year-old Brazilian showed immense heart, recovering and getting back to his feet. However, Gane continued his offensive, pressing "Poatan" against the cage where he landed more powerful hooks. This barrage prompted Herb Dean to step in and stop the fight.

This victory marked Ciryl Gane's 14th win in 16 professional bouts.
