Violent scenes have erupted between protesters and police at the launch of a book by Australian federal Education Minister Christopher Pyne. About 100 National Union of Students protesters are at the Docklands building where they smashed the panel in a revolving door while trying to get into an area blocked by police.

According The National the students were shouting “No cuts, no fees, no corporate universities”. The protesters dispersed about 5.15pm and the book launch has been delayed.

There is still a large police presence outside entrances to the building.

Mr Pyne’s book A Letter to My Children will be launched by Victorian Liberal president Michael Kroger as Prime Minister Tony Abbott had to pull out.
