Following yesterday's news that Chelsea had tabled a record bid for England international Morgan Rogers, journalist Ben Jacobs reported today that the London club has also initiated official negotiations for French international Maxence Lacroix. The Crystal Palace center-back featured prominently for "Les Bleus" in the latter stages of their last two World Cup matches. In the semi-final against Spain, he replaced the severely injured William Saliba in the 30th minute, and last night he started against England in the third-place playoff, earning the third-highest rating in Didier Deschamps' squad, despite "Les Bleus'" defense conceding six goals.
According to Jacobs, Arsenal also holds an interest in the 26-year-old Lacroix, whom "the Eagles" value at £55 million.
A few days ago, "The Mirror" reported that Stamford Bridge was prepared to offer Crystal Palace Trevor Chalobah as a makeweight in a deal for Lacroix.
