Chelsea defender Malo Gusto has voiced his bewilderment at the criticism directed towards manager Liam Rossinier. The Blues have secured just one victory in their last six Premier League matches. Their most recent outing before the international break saw them suffer a heavy 3-0 defeat to Everton.
“I consider Rossinier a top coach, but I see many people criticizing him. I don't understand why there's so much criticism. I think he is, first and foremost, an exceptional person and an excellent coach, and he's also young. He has great prospects ahead of him, but if he's become Chelsea's coach, it's because he has talent,” Gusto stated.
“As a team, we need to believe in him, believe in the way we play, and stick to our plan. He is a good man, very honest and direct, and you can see he's truly passionate. He wants to share his passion for football with us, and I feel like I want to play for him; I want to show my best when he puts me on the pitch,” the Frenchman added.
“It was tough for us when Enzo Maresca was sacked. The arrival of a new coach is a big change for the team, and honestly, we were all surprised. But these things happen in football, so we had to adapt. We tried to do that before the international break, but those few weeks were difficult in terms of results, as they weren't what we expected,” the defender admitted.
“It's hard to change systems when you start to understand one thing, and then immediately have to switch to another. For us, it might be a bit more complicated because we have less experience. Many of us are young, but we have the skills to handle it. We just need to trust the process and do our best so that Chelsea can be where they belong,” Malo Gusto concluded.
