Sergio Perez has revealed what he considers to be the "biggest challenge" upon his return to Formula 1 after a year-long absence.

Perez departed the grid at the end of the 2024 season following a difficult spell with the Red Bull team. He then spent the 2025 season away from the sport before making his comeback earlier this year with the all-new Cadillac team.

The Mexican driver was brought in alongside fellow veteran Valtteri Bottas to spearhead the development of both the car and the team, leveraging their feedback. However, Perez emphasized that the greatest hurdle was adapting to the demanding schedule that Formula 1 drivers are required to maintain.

"The biggest challenge, honestly, was getting back into the rhythm of an F1 driver's schedule," Perez stated. "Initially, for example, I'd do a test and then receive a message that in two days I needed to be in another country, and two days after that, in a third. Getting used to that... you tend to forget what life as a Formula 1 driver is like, how busy it is, and how everything is meticulously planned. You live by a schedule. For me, that was the hardest thing to get back up to speed with. But after two or three months, I had no choice, so I got used to it," he added.
