The altercation erupted towards the end of the game. At one point, Žuan Begarin inexplicably struck Dijon player Quentin Loser. The force of the blow left Loser with a cut on his face, and he reacted furiously.
In an attempt to retaliate, Loser was restrained by both his teammates and Monaco players, whose quick intervention prevented further escalation. Loser and Okobo were involved in a heated exchange, but eventually, both teammates and opponents managed to calm the situation.
There's no doubt that sanctions will be imposed on both sides, primarily for Begarin, who violently struck an opposing player.
Monaco Grappling with Injury Woes
Monaco suffered a defeat to Dubai in Sarajevo this past week, and as if the Principality club didn't have enough problems this season, another one has emerged.
Ahead of crucial EuroLeague battles, Monaco, currently tied for ninth place with Crvena Zvezda with a 19-16 record, faces new personnel challenges.
Nemanja Nedović has sustained an injury and, according to French media reports, has returned to Belgrade for treatment. His return is not expected for at least another month.
What might offer some relief to Monaco's coaching staff is the return of Mike James from his recovery in America. He will miss this week's national league game but is expected to be ready for the upcoming double-round EuroLeague week.
