Mohamed Salah, set to depart Liverpool at the end of the season, is expected to continue his career with a European club, rejecting any offers from Saudi Arabia. The 33-year-old Egyptian international announced earlier this week that he would be leaving the Reds after the conclusion of the current campaign. Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher believes Salah remains motivated enough to compete in the Champions League and achieve further success before hanging up his boots.
“I can see him at one of the top clubs in Italy. He’s looking at how many goals he can score in the Champions League. If he goes to Saudi Arabia, his career is over. He probably thinks that his departure from Liverpool doesn't mean the end of his footballing career. He definitely has more to give,” Carragher stated on The Overlap podcast.
Salah, who spent two seasons at Roma before his move to Anfield in 2017, has won one Champions League title with Liverpool and currently ranks 11th among the tournament's all-time leading goalscorers.
To date, the Egyptian has netted 255 goals in 435 appearances for the 20-time English champions.
