The Partizan basketball player continued his stellar performances for South Sudan, this time taking down Tunisia in a crucial World Cup qualifier.
With the score tied at 75-75, Carlik Jones drove to the basket and scored a layup with 15 seconds left on the clock. This proved to be the decisive basket, as Tunisia failed to convert on their subsequent possession, and South Sudan sealed the victory from the free-throw line.
Carlik Jones was the top scorer with 20 points, while Majok Deng added 16, and Bot Gach contributed ten. For Tunisia, Yassine Toumi led with 24 points, Firas Lahyani had 14, and Omar Abada and Mohamed Mafeud each scored 11.
With three rounds remaining in the African qualifiers, South Sudan shares the top spot with Cameroon, both holding a 7-2 record. The top two teams from the group will advance directly, with the third-placed team also having a chance to qualify.
Currently, Guinea sits in third place with a 6-3 record, while Tunisia and Nigeria are 5-4. Cape Verde is at 3-6.
