Carlik Jones is a pivotal player for Partizan. There has been much talk about a contract extension between the two sides, but it has yet to materialize, as the South Sudanese international stated after the game against Budućnost, where the black-and-whites lost 95:89.

You could follow the match between Budućnost and Partizan live on Sportal.

As Sportal first reported, Partizan and Jones are negotiating a new contract, but nothing has been finalized yet, despite some media outlets claiming an agreement had been reached between the two parties.

However, the black-and-whites' best player denied these reports after the game in Podgorica, when asked if he had signed a new contract.

I haven't signed anything. That's all I can say at this moment.Carlik Jones

Following that, he was questioned about the reasons for the black-and-whites' loss against the Podgorica team.

A tough game, on the road, a hostile atmosphere against a strong opponent. We didn't have enough practice, we didn't play tough enough, too many missed details and too many mistakes cost us the game.Carlik Jones

It's worth remembering that Carlik Jones joined Partizan two summers ago, during a major team overhaul, and quickly established himself as the undisputed leader of the squad.

At the start of this season, he suffered an injury that sidelined him for four months, and in the meantime, Partizan experienced a complete collapse without him, falling out of contention for the EuroLeague playoffs early on. Carlik Jones averages 14.6 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 5.2 assists per game in the EuroLeague.
