Court prevents NDLEA, others from arresting Senator-elect

A Federal High Court in Lagos has restrained the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and other security agencies from arresting Senator-elect, Buruji Kashamu.

Officials of the agency had invaded Kashamu’s house on Saturday, May 23, 2015, in a bid to arrest and extradite him to the US to face drug charges.

The plans to arrest him however failed as the NDLEA did not have an official warrant authorizing the move.

Plans to take Kashamu to the court for an extradition hearing also failed as he refused to leave him home without seeing a warrant.

Kashamu was indicted in Chicago in 1998 for a drug deal which is reported to be the inspiration behind Netflix hit series, “Orange is the new black."
