UFC BJJ has yet to officially announce the fighter's signing or a debut date. However, the current plan is for the Brazilian to compete in his first match with the new organization in the coming months. Burns, who turns 40 in July, stated after his final UFC fight at UFC Winnipeg in April that his post-MMA plans included a return to jiu-jitsu. He lost to Mike Malott in the main event of that Canadian card.

Between 2014 and 2026, Burns compiled a UFC record of 15 wins and 10 losses, securing notable victories over fighters such as Tyron Woodley, Demian Maia, Stephen Thompson, and Jorge Masvidal. During his UFC tenure, he also participated in several grappling matches, defeating names like Rafael Lovato, Jake Shields, and AJ Agazarm.

Before transitioning to mixed martial arts in 2012, Burns enjoyed a highly successful jiu-jitsu career. He earned a gold medal at the 2011 IBJJF World Championship and claimed the 2010 IBJJF No-Gi World title. Some of his most significant jiu-jitsu victories include wins over Kron Gracie and Leandro Lo.

The next UFC BJJ event is scheduled for May 21st at the Meta APEX in Las Vegas.
