Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes expressed the team's disappointment following their opening Premier League defeat to newly promoted Hull. The Red Devils fell 2-0, appearing sluggish and devoid of ideas throughout the match against a far more motivated opponent.
“It’s the same mistake we made last year. In away games, we allow the opposition too much possession. In the first twenty minutes, our goalkeeper had the most touches. We need to press much better, be more aggressive, and work on set-pieces to avoid conceding such goals against these types of teams who thrive on those moments. We knew set-pieces would be a crucial part of the game. Hull played with a back four throughout pre-season, but against us, they lined up with five, bringing in tall players specifically for those situations. The most frustrating thing is that we lost. We knew they would be highly motivated, and we understand that playing at these kinds of stadiums in the Premier League is very tough. We need more intensity, more aggression,” Bruno Fernandes stated after the match.
