Scenes of violence between rival fan groups before a World Cup or European Championship match are, unfortunately, a common occurrence in football. However, during the current World Cup in the USA, such videos have been notably absent from social media.

Now, an even rarer situation has unfolded: a brawl between fans from the same country. The incident took place in Atlanta, where the World Cup semi-final clash between Argentina and England is set to happen tonight. This time, however, the fight wasn't between Argentinians and Englishmen, whose rivalry spans decades.

All World Cup matches are broadcast live on bnt.sportal.bg. The platform streams all 104 matches from the 2026 World Cup schedule in real-time.

Videos posted on social media show approximately twenty individuals engaged in a physical altercation, throwing trash cans and even benches at the opposing faction. On one side were ultras of the San Lorenzo club, and on the other, those of Huracán, identifiable by their jerseys.

These are two clubs from the Argentine capital, Buenos Aires, who have been eternal rivals for over a century. Along with the Superclásico between River Plate and Boca Juniors and the Avellaneda derby, which pits Independiente against Racing Club, the match between these two teams is one of the most heated in the country.

Tensions between San Lorenzo and Huracán escalated before this national team match, which would typically be expected to quell club rivalries. The tension rose to such a degree that police intervention was required. One man was taken away in handcuffs. Currently, there are no reports of tension between Argentine and English supporters on the streets of Atlanta, despite the match being classified as "high-risk" by local police.
