The Boston Celtics made a return to the NBA Finals for the first time since 2010.

The Celtics recorded a 100-96 victory away against the Miami Heat in Game seven of the Eastern Conference Finals at the FTX Arena on Monday, May 30, 2022.

With the series tied at 3-3, the winner of Game seven would advance to the 2022 NBA Finals.

The Celtics would show off their defensive prowess to take down a difficult Miami Heat team.

The Celtics started off hot as they took a commanding 32-17 lead after the first quarter.

The Heat responded to take the second quarter 32-23 but trailed Boston by six points at the halftime break.

The Celtics took the third quarter 27-26 and while the Heat won the fourth quarter 21-18 it was not close until late in the game.

Jimmy Butler had the opportunity to put Miami in front just 20 seconds left in the game but missed a long three point shot.

The Celtics held on for the win to advance to the 2022 NBA Finals. Jayson Tatum emerged winner of the first Larry Bird Eastern Conference Finals MVP.

The Celtics now face the Western Conference champions the Golden State Warriors in the 2022 NBA Finals which starts on Thursday, June 2.
