The decision came after Monaco forfeited its right to participate, failing to meet all administrative and financial requirements outlined in the competition's official regulations. The Sarajevo club received a special one-season invitation and will compete in Group D alongside Bahçeşehir, Balkan Botevgrad, Manresa, Lietkabelis, PAOK, Ulm, and Roma.
This marks the Sarajevo club's first return to Europe's second-tier club competition since the 2007/08 season.
A Storied Past: Five Overtime Thriller in Berlin and the Iconic 1979 Triumph
It was precisely in that sole EuroCup season that Bosna etched its name into history, participating in the longest game ever recorded in the competition's annals. On December 4, 2007, the Sarajevo side fell to Alba Berlin 141:127 after an incredible five overtimes.
Remarkably, five Bosna players spent over 40 minutes on the court, with Kyle Hill leading the charge at 53 minutes and 18 seconds. Despite that loss, the team advanced to the knockout stage, where they were eliminated by Gran Canaria in the Round of 16.
Bosna enters the EuroCup as the reigning champion of Bosnia and Herzegovina, having lifted its fifth national trophy last season. This adds to a rich collection that also includes three Yugoslav League titles (1978, 1980, and 1983).
The pinnacle of the club's history arrived on April 5, 1979, when they defeated Varese 96:93 in Grenoble. Led by the legendary Mirza Delibašić and the unstoppable Žarko Varajić, Bosna became the first club from the former Yugoslavia to conquer Europe. Varajić's record of 45 points in that final remains an unbroken elite record to this day.
The Sarajevo giants officially resume their European journey with an away game against Lietkabelis in Lithuania on September 30, ending a hiatus of exactly 6,791 days since their last match in this competition.
