Eagles Boycott Thursday Training Over Money Issues
Super Eagles players reportedly boycotted training on Thursday in protest for additional bonuses for reaching the second round stage of the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
Africanfootball.com reported that the players were paid 15 thousand dollars each for making it past the group stage; 10 thousand dollars for the defeat of Bosnia and 5 thousand for the draw against Iran, which was the agreement the players had with the NFF before the kick off of the first game.
However, the players have started clamouring for increased pay for their historic feat in Brazil.
It is also reported from the same source that the players have turned around the agreement, they are now requesting for a win bonus in the stalemate with Iran and and an extra pay for loosing to the Argentines.
Prior the game against Bosnia and Argentina, rumours brewed that the Nigerian team was not in harmony with the issues stemming from favoritism and bonus rows: a side talk that was quickly dispelled by the Media Officer of the team Ben Alaiya and the players.
Similar to the first case of reported disharmony, the coach and captain of the team came out to deny the disagreement over bonuses.
Ousted African representative Ghana suffered a catastrophic fate due to unresolved issues stemming from unpaid bonuses, if not immediately resolved, the Nigerian team may be headed the same way.
