Terrorists tried to sell captives for N2000 as Army approached

According to women recently freed from Boko Haram, the terrorists made attempts to sell them when they realized that soldiers were advancing upon their stronghold.

The victims revealed that the insurgents began trying to sell them for N2,000 each when they noticed helicopters flying above Sambisa Forest, according to Reuters.

“We heard bullets flying around ... we lay on the floor. Some of the women were crushed (by army vehicles) and others wounded by bullets. Eighteen were killed. We counted them, they included infants,” a freed captive, Salamatu Mohamed said.

The women also said that the terrorists threatened to sell them often and even warned that they would be taken to Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau, deep in the forest.

The Nigerian Army has rescued about 700 women and children from the sect since Tuesday, April 28, 2015.
