Barely a week after the capture and renaming of Mubi Town in Adamawa by Boko Haram, the sect has reportedly renamed Gwoza in Borno, another town under its control.
The insurgents have changed the name of Gwoza to “Darul Hikma” meaning “House of Wisdom”.
Residents of the area confirmed the renaming saying that Gwoza and Mubi have been added to Boko Haram’s “caliphate.”
One Ahmad Maishanu, a resident of Mubi who was forced to flee said:
“They have given new names to Gwoza and Mubi, which they say are now part of their Islamic state.”
Another resident, Tijjani Kalifa confirmed the name change and said that Boko Haram has been forcing members of both communities to use the new names.
Residents of the areas also stated that there was no sign of security personnel in the conquered towns.
