Book and music sales soar after Nobel prize win
American singer-songwriter, and poet, Bob Dylan just won the 2016 Nobel prize for literature in Stockholm today “for having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition”
Following the announcement, sales of his books Chronicles: Volume One and The Lyrics: 1961-2012 have increased dramatically, according to Press Association.
Dylan's memoir "Chronicles: Volume One" and a bound compilation, "The Lyrics: 1961-2012," were among two of Amazon.com's fastest sellers since his Nobel Prize win.
His book of lyrics jumped from No. 73,543 on Amazon's best-seller list the night before Thursday's announcement to No. 209. Over the same 24-hour period, Chronicles went from number 15,690 to 278, quickly becoming out of stock.
Not surprisingly, album sales also went through the roof, with Bob Dylan's Greatest Hits and Blonde on Blonde, finishing within the retailers top 25 best-selling CDs and Vinyl records.
Dylan was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature for having “created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition” becoming the first American to win since Beloved author Toni Morrison picked up the prize in 1993.
