Audi's Formula 1 project head, Mattia Binotto, addressed recent speculation linking Carlos Sainz to a move from Williams at the end of the current season, with ambitions to replace Nico Hülkenberg at the German team.

"Firstly, I don't read newspapers, or I read them very little, so I hear these rumors from you," Binotto explained to Swiss media. "I know Carlos very well, and it's logical for his name to be associated with Audi. But I can tell you that I am very pleased with the drivers we currently have."
"Gabriel Bortoleto and Nico Hülkenberg represent an excellent blend of youth and experience; both are very fast, and that's why I'm happy with them. They are both quick."
"I'm glad that someone is constantly linking our team with other drivers; it shows that interest and confidence in our project are growing. Others now believe we are competitive – that's the truth, and that's not a rumor."
