Gianluca Prestianni is once again on River Plate's radar, emerging as a target to bolster their squad. The 20-year-old forward has reportedly impressed coach Eduardo Coudet, who is said to have urged Buenos Aires club president Stefano Di Carlo to secure his signing.
River Plate previously attempted to sign Prestianni in December, but Benfica showed no interest in negotiating. The Argentine club offered an €800,000 loan deal with a €4 million option to buy 50% of his economic rights. Benfica deemed the financial offer insufficient. Furthermore, the prospect of the forward returning to Argentina, even on loan, was never an appealing option for the Eagles.
In December, Prestianni had yet to cement a starting spot. However, he broke into the first team in January and has since become one of José Mourinho's most frequently utilized players.
The forward, who is under contract until 2029 with a reported €100 million release clause, according to Argentine publication elcrackdeportivo, is back on River Plate's agenda. However, River also understands that a return to Argentina is an unlikely scenario.
River Plate holds more optimism regarding the potential signing of Nicolás Otamendi, whose contract expires in June. While Benfica is keen on renewing his deal, the Eagles' captain, now without the immediate priority of national team duties after the World Cup, is expected to explore all available options.
