Eddie Howe is set to hold a face-to-face meeting with the Newcastle board next week, as the team navigates a challenging Premier League season. This comes amidst speculation linking José Mourinho as a potential successor, despite his stated desire to remain at Benfica for the 2026/27 season.

English media reports confirm that the meeting, scheduled some time ago, will include representatives from Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF). Despite the pressure on the 48-year-old manager, the gathering is not intended as a vote of confidence, but rather to discuss future planning and analyze the team's performance.

Also on the agenda are plans for the new training center and stadium. In addition to PIF officials traveling from Riyadh, attendees will include Chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan, CEO David Hopkinson, CFO Simon Capper, and Stadium Director Brad Miller.

After qualifying for the UEFA Champions League last season, Newcastle currently sit 14th in the Premier League. The Magpies are six points adrift of European competition spots and hold an 11-point cushion over the relegation zone.

Despite the underwhelming results, Howe appears to retain the board's support, who intend to give him time to turn the situation around. Relations between the parties remain strong, though all acknowledge that football is ultimately a results-driven business. The administration's strategy, led by Yasir Al Rumayyan, focuses on empowering the day-to-day management team, ensuring the manager and his coaching staff have all the necessary conditions to achieve success.

With five Premier League matches remaining—against Arsenal, Brighton, Nottingham Forest, West Ham, and Fulham—Newcastle are looking to rebound from a series of consecutive league defeats. This season, the team reached the Champions League round of 16 and the semi-finals of the English League Cup.
