To keep your Lip and eyes pencils from wasting,snapping or generally making application unnecessarily messy, here's the perfect thing to do...

Lip/eye pencils tend to snap mid application or when sharpening and when they are creamy/well moisturized (which is good) it's even worse as they'll keep cutting off (wasting away).

If your eye and lip pencils are too creamy/ soft, put them in the fridge for about an hour before you sharpen them or if possible, leave them in the fridge often to solidify them. The less soft pencils are, the less they go to waste.
