Bayern Munich has sent a clear and unequivocal message to Liverpool, flatly refusing any negotiations for Michael Olise and taking the opportunity to criticize the English club's transfer policy. Uli Hoeness, the honorary president of the Bavarian giants, minced no words regarding the Reds' alleged interest in the French star, valued at €200 million.
According to German media, Liverpool was reportedly preparing an astronomical bid of that amount to secure the winger's services, while Real Madrid had also considered a €166 million offer to bolster their attack. However, the Bundesliga champions' response was emphatic.
"I don't believe that's true, but Liverpool spent 500 million this year and are having a very bad season," Hoeness stated. "Therefore, we will not contribute to them playing better next year," the executive added, in a direct jab at Liverpool's substantial investment in players like Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz, and Hugo Ekitiké, which has not translated into the expected results.
Arne Slot's side currently sits fifth in the Premier League, just one point above Chelsea, and is battling hard for a spot in the next Champions League. The search for a replacement for Mohamed Salah, who will leave the club at the end of the season, led the Merseyside outfit to place the former Crystal Palace man at the top of their target list.
Hoeness's stance was reinforced by other German officials. The CEO of the Bavarian powerhouse, Jan-Christian Dreesen, emphasized the players' loyalty to the club: "No matter which club tries to tempt him, whoever plays for Bayern knows what Bayern is all about."
Meanwhile, Eberl, another executive, confirmed that Olise's contract does not include any release clause, making his departure even more unlikely. The 24-year-old, who joined Bayern from the Eagles in the summer of 2024 for €60 million, still has three years remaining on his contract.
Since moving to Munich, the French international has been in stellar form, tallying 36 goals and 43 assists in 94 appearances across all competitions. The player is reportedly content at the club, which leads the Bundesliga and is set to face Real Madrid in the Champions League quarter-finals.
