Barcelona is set to return to Montjuïc at the start of the 2027/28 season as the club aims to complete the reconstruction of their Camp Nou stadium and install a new roof. The Blaugrana have already spent time at the Olympic Stadium in recent seasons, and according to ESPN, they will kick off the 2027/28 campaign once again at Montjuïc.
The report adds that Barcelona might play the entire first half of the season away from home, with the return to the iconic Camp Nou scheduled for January 2028.
The stadium's capacity is expected to increase to approximately 95,000 seats upon the team's return, eventually reaching a final capacity of 105,000 once all construction work is fully completed.
Barcelona hopes the work will be finished on schedule, especially after initial reconstruction phases experienced delays, which ultimately forced the team to spend more time at Montjuïc than originally planned.
It has already been confirmed that Camp Nou will host the 2029 Champions League final, and President Joan Laporta is optimistic the stadium will also stage the 2030 FIFA World Cup final.
