News first broke regarding Cancelo's return. He successfully terminated his contract with the Saudi club a year early, allowing him to sign with Barcelona as a free agent. His arrival at Camp Nou is anticipated as early as Tuesday. This marks the 32-year-old's third stint with the club. The Portuguese international previously had two loan spells with the Catalans during the 2023/24 season and last spring. In total, he has accumulated 65 appearances, scoring 6 goals and providing 9 assists for the team.

Shortly thereafter, the acquisition of Rodri was confirmed for a fee of €65 million plus €5 million in add-ons. The Spain captain is set to receive a four-year contract with an annual salary of €15 million. Interestingly, the Atlético Madrid academy product initially hoped for a move to Real Madrid, but Barcelona quickly entered the race and successfully convinced him to choose their offer.

After a seven-year tenure at City, the World Champion returns to his homeland, having previously played for both Atlético and Villarreal. The Sky Blues purchased him from the *Colchoneros* for €70 million, and he repaid their investment with a total of 298 appearances, 28 goals, and 32 assists. The 30-year-old midfielder also clinched an impressive 13 trophies with the Citizens, including four Premier League titles and one Champions League. For Spain, the 2024 Ballon d'Or winner has featured in 70 matches, scoring 4 goals and providing 2 assists, triumphing first at Euro 2024 and then at the 2026 World Cup.
