Both Barcelona and Celta Vigo are still reeling from their respective European exits. Barcelona was knocked out in the Champions League quarterfinals, while Celta reached the same stage in the Europa League but also failed to advance.

Barcelona is in excellent form, boasting four wins and just one loss in their last five matches. The Catalans defeated Atletico Madrid 2-1 at the Metropolitano, though it wasn't enough to progress to the Champions League semifinals. Prior to that, the Blaugrana thrashed Espanyol 4-1 in La Liga, lost 0-2 to Atletico Madrid in the first leg of their Champions League tie, but then overcame the Rojiblancos 2-1 in the league.

Celta, however, is enduring a tough spell with four losses in their last five games. They fell 1-3 to Freiburg in the Europa League, 0-3 to Oviedo in La Liga, 0-3 to Freiburg in the first leg of their Europa League quarterfinal, and 3-4 to Alaves. The Galicians' sole victory in this period was a 3-2 win against Valencia.

Barcelona currently sits atop the league with an impressive 79 points from 31 matches. The Catalans boast the best goal difference in the league, having scored 84 goals and conceded just 30.

Celta Vigo has exceeded expectations, occupying sixth place with 44 points. The team from Vigo has a goal difference of 44 scored to 40 conceded and is the third strongest away side in La Liga.

Barcelona will be without several key players for the upcoming match, most notably Brazilian international Raphinha. Lamine Yamal is in superb form and is expected to pose a significant threat to the visitors' defense. Robert Lewandowski is anticipated to start after being a substitute against Atletico.

For Celta, the main concern is the absence of midfielder Miguel Roman due to injury. Ilaix Moriba, a former Barcelona player, will be looking to make an impact on his old stomping ground. Veteran striker Iago Aspas is likely to feature from the bench.

The last encounter between these two sides was on November 9, 2025, in a La Liga fixture where Barcelona secured a 4-2 away victory against Celta. Before that, on April 19, 2025, the Catalans won 4-3 in a home match.

In their last five meetings, Barcelona has recorded four wins and one draw, highlighting their dominance in head-to-head clashes.
