Barcelona has officially announced the signing of former NBA guard Stanley Umude.
The Catalan club confirmed that the 27-year-old basketball player has inked a two-year deal, keeping him with the team until the end of the 2027/28 season. This move sees Barcelona continue to bolster its roster ahead of the 2026/27 season.
The 6-foot-6 player went undrafted in the 2022 NBA Draft but has spent parts of the last four seasons in the league. He appeared in a total of 49 regular-season games for the Detroit Pistons, Milwaukee Bucks, and San Antonio Spurs.
Throughout his NBA career, Umude has averaged 3.0 points and 1.4 rebounds in eight minutes per game. His most significant opportunity came with Detroit during the 2023/24 season, where he posted averages of 5.3 points and 2.1 rebounds in 13 minutes on the court.
Last season, Umude played two games for the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA before spending the majority of the campaign with their G League affiliate, the Austin Spurs. In 42 games there, he averaged 17.0 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.5 assists, shooting 41% from the field.
Across his four seasons in the G League, his career averages stand at 16.4 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 1.4 assists in 30 minutes of play.
In 2024, Umude was part of the Milwaukee Bucks squad that won the NBA Cup, adding a championship to his resume before making the move to the European stage.
Barça recently also signed new Bulgarian international Umoja Gibson.
