Negotiations between Barcelona and Atlético Madrid for the transfer of Julián Álvarez are ongoing, with the final phase scheduled to commence after the World Cup, according to the Catalan publication "Sport."
The two clubs have agreed to postpone all decisive steps in the deal until the tournament concludes. Following this, Barça intends to resume active discussions and finalize the acquisition of the Argentine international.
Álvarez himself has already made the first move, openly expressing his desire for a potential transfer to Camp Nou.
The delay in negotiations isn't solely tied to the World Cup. Barcelona's management understands that Atlético is unlikely to part with a key player without first securing a replacement of similar caliber. For this reason, the Catalan giants have decided to give the Madrid club the necessary time to operate in the transfer market over the coming weeks.
Barcelona's financial plan remains unchanged. The Catalan powerhouse will submit an official offer valued at approximately 100 million euros.
Barça considers this sum the maximum they can afford and is confident that it aligns with both the player's market value and Atlético's financial requirements. The Catalans have no intention of increasing their offer to 150 million euros.
