Bam Adebayo unveiled his top five greatest NBA players of all time, notably omitting LeBron James. Despite James opting to join the Philadelphia 76ers instead of returning to the Miami Heat, Adebayo stated he holds no ill will and is happy for his former USA Olympic teammate.
His selection included Kobe Bryant, Steph Curry, Michael Jordan, Kevin Durant, and Tim Duncan.
Although the 29-year-old center excluded James from his list, he spoke positively about the veteran's free agency decision.
"I'm on good terms with Bron," Adebayo told reporters. "Honestly, I consider Bron a brother. We've been Olympic teammates, but even before that, we've always had down-to-earth conversations. I'm happy for him. You want the best for someone. That's where it starts."
This summer, the Miami Heat were among several teams aggressively pursuing LeBron James during his highly publicized unrestricted free agency.
Ultimately, their efforts proved unsuccessful; the four-time NBA MVP chose the Philadelphia 76ers as the next destination in his illustrious career.
James signed a remarkable two-year veteran minimum contract worth $8 million with the 76ers. Joining a star-studded roster led by Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, V.J. Edgecombe, and Jaylen Brown, he positions himself for a genuine chance to win a fifth championship ring.
After James informed the Los Angeles Lakers he would not be returning, the Heat's front office began envisioning a reunion. A decade ago, James led Miami to two consecutive titles and four straight NBA Finals appearances. Following a blockbuster trade for Giannis Antetokounmpo, Pat Riley and the club's management made a significant push to bring the superstar back to South Beach.
Instead, the Heat must prepare to face James as a divisional rival. With the 76ers bolstered by his arrival, anticipation for the upcoming NBA season has reached a fever pitch.
