Absolute dominance! After securing a clear pole position, George Russell (Mercedes) led the Baku Grand Prix from start to finish, clinching his first victory of the season and the eighth of his career. In a dream weekend, Russell achieved a clean sweep for the first time, adding the fastest lap of the race to his pole and ultimate triumph.
After a largely uneventful first half, the deployment of the safety car, twice in quick succession, ignited the battle for victory. Max Verstappen (Red Bull), who started eighth on the grid, capitalized most effectively on the various incidents, challenging for the win right up to the final meters.
However, the Dutchman's winless streak continues, now extending to 15 races since his victory in Abu Dhabi at the end of last season.
Returning from injury, Isack Hadjar (Red Bull) completed the podium, finishing ahead of Leclerc (Ferrari) and the World Championship leader, Kimi Antonelli (Mercedes).
