The 57 Chibok School girls who escaped from the Boko Haram sect, following their abduction alongside almost 300 others in April, will be relocated by the Borno State government.
This much was revealed by the Borno State governor, Kashim Shettima, at a meeting with the students and their parents.
Only 27 of the girls and 32 parents were parents, because some of them had already left the state to live with family members in other parts of the country
Shettima noted that the girls' relocation is to enable them complete their education.
He identified Lagos and Abuja as possible places, sponsored by the Borno state government.
The governor also appealed to Nigerians, and the families of the remaining girls, to be patient and hopeful as the government is doing all it can.
“We called you here to appeal to you to exercise some restraint and be patient. We are doing our best and we shall not relent on our efforts to cushion your suffering and ensure quick release of our daughters,” he said.
An American counselling expert will be invited to counsel the girls.
