Austrian Star Becomes Face of Special Stamp Edition, On Sale Right After World Cup Final

The stamps will go on sale on Monday, July 20th, the day after the World Cup final. Austria reached the round of sixteen at the tournament in the USA, Canada, and Mexico, where they fell 0-3 to eventual finalists Spain.

“Austria is my home, my country, and my identity. To have my own special stamp is a great privilege and a truly immense honor,” Alaba was quoted by the APA agency.

The block featuring the former Real Madrid and Bayern Munich player consists of two stamps. The first, valued at 3.50 euros, depicts Alaba's portrait, while the second, worth one euro, shows him in his national team jersey during a match. The Austrian Post will issue a total of 160,000 copies.
