Atletico Madrid has issued a new statement targeting city rivals Real Madrid following their tense derby clash.

Yesterday, the "Rojiblancos" secured a 2-1 home victory in a La Liga Matchday 7 fixture. After the game, Real Madrid's head coach, Jose Mourinho, appeared at the press conference with printed images allegedly showing blatant fouls by Atletico players against his own. The Portuguese manager also made a series of sharp remarks regarding the officiating of Miguel Angel Ortiz Arias.

Today, Atletico responded by printing a photo of Mourinho at the press conference, where he was displaying the foul footage, and captioned it: "Stop harassing referees immediately."

Two hours later, a new post appeared on Atletico's official X (formerly Twitter) account: "This season brings a new challenge – three weeks without La Liga. This season, they started very early."

The club also posted an image of spinning gears with the caption "the mechanism has been activated."

As a hashtag, Atletico reiterated their call: "#StopHarassingRefereesImmediately".
