“Stop harassing the referees.” This was Atlético Madrid’s response to José Mourinho’s complaints following Sunday’s derby, where the Portuguese Real Madrid coach drew attention to the officiating. On the pitch, the “Royals” lost 2-1, but they claimed the home side should have received two red cards.

With a video of a printer producing images similar to those the Portuguese coach himself displayed at his press conference, the club from the Metropolitano ironically responded to the “whites” regarding what they perceive as disproportionate complaints. The images read “Stop harassing the referees.” This came approximately 24 hours after the derby concluded.

At his press conference, “The Special One” appeared with two printed sheets depicting two of the controversial incidents.

Atlético believes the complaints are excessive given what transpired in the derby. More importantly, they feel Real Madrid is not the most suitable club to discuss refereeing favoritism. From the Metropolitano’s perspective, there have been several instances in previous derbies where they were the ones disadvantaged.
