"Ronaldo is undoubtedly a fantastic player, but he couldn't play for Atletico. Any team would be thrilled to sign a player of his caliber. However, it's one thing to recognize his greatness and quite another to imagine him in an Atletico shirt," Cerezo stated, as quoted by "AS."

Cristiano played for Real Madrid from 2009 to 2018, setting a club record by becoming their all-time leading scorer with 450 goals.

In 2022, amidst Ronaldo's second departure from Manchester United, media outlets extensively discussed a potential transfer for the forward to Atletico.
