Aston Villa has announced that the North Stand at Villa Park will be closed for the entirety of the upcoming season. The closure is part of a major redevelopment project aimed at significantly increasing its capacity from 5,000 to 12,000 seats. This expansion will boost Villa Park's overall capacity to 50,000 spectators. The renovation is slated for completion by the end of 2027, with the stand expected to reopen for the start of the 2027/28 season.

However, the closure of the North Stand will reduce the stadium's capacity to 37,000 spectators for the next season, during which Aston Villa is almost certainly set to compete in the Champions League.

The improvements to this section of the stadium will also include new changing rooms, as well as state-of-the-art medical and physiotherapy facilities for the first team.

Francesco Calvo, Villa's President of Business Operations, stated: “The temporary reduction in Villa Park’s capacity is not a decision we have taken lightly. However, it is the right decision and one we have made with our supporters and the long-term future of the club at the forefront of our thinking. By doing so, we are ensuring we invest responsibly while adhering to financial regulations.”
