Aston Villa's management has initiated negotiations to extend the contract of attacking midfielder Emiliano Buendía, according to "Daily Mail." The Birmingham club aims to secure the Argentine's services long-term, as he has become a pivotal figure for the squad.
The 29-year-old's current contract runs until the summer of 2027, with Villa also holding an option to extend it for an additional season. Despite this, the club is unwilling to risk allowing the player to enter the final 18 months of his agreement.
Buendía's journey at Villa Park hasn't always been smooth. In the summer of 2025, he was far from manager Unai Emery's plans and was even offered to city rivals Birmingham. However, through sheer persistence, the Argentine managed to regain the Spanish specialist's trust and established himself as one of the most effective attacking players.
During the 2025/26 season, Buendía showcased excellent form, registering 11 goals and 8 assists in a total of 54 appearances. According to the specialized portal "Transfermarkt," the player's current market value stands at 16 million euros.
