Aston Martin Drivers Hit with Grid Penalties in Baku

Aston Martin drivers Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll have been handed grid penalties for Saturday's Azerbaijan Grand Prix.

Both drivers started the Baku weekend with new power unit components, some of which exceeded their permitted seasonal allocation. Consequently, both have received penalties that will be applied after qualifying.

Stroll will drop 20 places on the grid, while Alonso faces a 25-place penalty. However, this is unlikely to significantly impact their starting positions given the pace they demonstrated during today's practice sessions. In the second practice hour, both drivers occupied the last two positions, and their pace is not expected to improve enough to qualify much higher.
