Super Falcons of Nigeria star Asisat Oshoala has reflected on winning the top scorer award in Spain for the 2021/22 season.

The 27-year-old Oshoala joined Barcelona Femeni in 2019 from Chinese side Dalian Quanjian.

Oshoala missed two months this season through injury but ended up as the top scorer in the league.

Oshoala scored 20 goals in 19 games but had to share the prize with Madrid CFF forward Geyse Ferreira who featured in eight more games.

Oshoala, a four-time African Women's Footballer of the Year is the first woman from Africa to be crowned top scorer in Spain.

Reflecting on the achievement, Oshoala in an interview with the BBC stated that the top scorer was a team effort.

She said, "It's obviously been a team effort to get here, and l can only thank my team-mates and everyone at the club for this achievement.

"We've been working hard all season and cannot stop now because we have another big one ahead of us."

Oshoala and her Barcelone Femeni teammates recorded 30 victories from 30 games, an unprecedented achievement in league history.

With the league secured, Oshoala stated that the goal is now to retain their UEFA Women's Champions League title.

According to Oshoala, the Jonatan Giraldez led Barcelona Femeni team will aim to outduel seven-time champions Lyon in the Women's Champions League final

She added, "The focus of everyone has shifted from a league title celebration to preparing for a massive game in Turin.'

Oshoala and Barcelona Femeni take on Lyon in the Champions League final on Saturday, May 21 and then the Copa de la Reina semi-final on Wednesday, May 25.
