Then a young girl, Asa showed depth, brilliance and passion in this throwback interview.

The singer  while recording in a home studio session talked about her music, influences and more.

Talking about the music, she says "Asa is inspired by many kinds of music, but basically by music that has soul." Her musical influences she says are too many to mention but she highlights Fela Kuti, Erica Badu and Yinka Davies as some very notable musicians that inspire her.

Speaking of her song 'Jailer', she says it's about the country, and its leaders who make unfavourable decisions for the citizenry without thinking about posterity and how it can come back and haunt them and their offspring.

She talks about experimenting with various types of music growing up as a kid but eventually settling with soul music, which she describes as being spiritual.

"Soul is spiritual, it's a conscious style of singing, it's not something ythat you sing today and tomorrow it's over, it's something that goes on. whatever you put your soul in is soul music, it's what I believe, that's why I do soul music," the singer explained.

After a sold-out concert dubbed ‘the best concert of 2016’ by many music critics, media houses and fans of good music, Asa returns with ‘Asa Live in Lagos Encore’ due to popular demand.
