Piero Hincapie and Martin Zubimendi have become the 10th and 11th Arsenal players to be released from international duty due to various issues. The Spanish Football Federation cited "discomfort in the right knee" as the reason for the midfielder's release. This decision appears to be a precautionary measure, but Arsenal's medical staff will further assess Zubimendi upon his return.
Hincapie sustained an injury in the 70th minute of the match between Ecuador and Morocco, forcing his substitution, and was subsequently sent back to London.
Prior to this, Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka left the England camp on Saturday, while Noni Madueke picked up a knee injury during a friendly against Uruguay. At the start of the international break, Eberechi Eze, Gabriel Magalhaes, and William Saliba were all withdrawn from their respective national squads due to injuries. Leandro Trossard and Jurrien Timber faced similar situations. Martin Odegaard is also still recovering from an injury, which prevented him from playing for Norway.
Arsenal's next fixture is on April 4th against Southampton in the FA Cup. Before then, Mikel Arteta is expected to provide an update on how many of these players are genuinely at risk of missing the match.
