Osasuna brought an end to their five-match winless streak with a comfortable 2-0 home victory over Santander, marking a successful start to Jagoba Arrasate's return as head coach.
The hosts started with high intensity and thought they had broken the deadlock just three minutes in through Jonathan Dubasin, only to see the effort ruled out for offside. The Pamplona faithful did not have to wait long for the opener, however, as Ante Budimir converted a ninth-minute penalty that he won himself. Following the breakthrough, the tempo dropped as the visitors settled into the contest, though Santander failed to create any clear-cut chances.
Osasuna seized the initiative again after the break in search of a second goal, with Budimir firing into the side netting from a tight angle. While the slender lead kept Santander in the game, they posed no real threat to the home keeper. Arrasate's side finally put the result beyond doubt two minutes from time when Asier Osambela struck his first goal of the season.
