Another alien-like creature spotted in this deep sea

Another alien-like creature has been spotted floating in the deep sea - and it is so rare it has only been seen by scientists just over 100 times in a century.

The bizarre creature appears to have a small, disc-shaped bell which can measure up to a metre wide.

It also has four thick, stinging tentacles that can extend up to six metres in length.

Stygiomedusa gigantea is a rare giant deep sea jellyfish, that has only been thought to have been spotted just over 100 times since it was discovered in 1900.

The image of the strange creature was captured by an ROV (remotely operated underwater vehicle) in the Gulf of Mexico.
