Manchester City defender John Stones is set to leave the club at the end of the season when his contract expires, according to Fabrizio Romano. The 31-year-old England international will be the second key player from the team's recent successful years to depart the Citizens, following Bernardo Silva's earlier announcement of his summer exit.
In 2016, Manchester City made Stones the second most expensive defender in the world at the time (editor's note: only David Luiz was more expensive). He leaves with 17 major trophies, having made 292 appearances and scored 19 goals for the Citizens.
This season has been plagued by continuous injury problems for Stones, limiting him to just seven Premier League appearances.
Speculation has already begun regarding Stones' potential next club. Rumors suggest Vincent Kompany might invite him to Bayern Munich. A return to Everton is also a possible option for the center-back's future.
