This poem went viral because it is too deep and everyone can relate to it.

Initially, at first glance the viral anonymous poem that's currently making the rounds on social media appears to be fairly discouraging and stupid.

However, it's got a hidden meaning. Despite starting with the line, "Today was the absolute worst day ever" (and appearing to get progressively more miserable as it goes on), the poem has a surprise in store when you reach the bottom.

Londoner Ronnie Joice spotted the poem tacked to the wall of a bar in North London, but it may in fact have come from across the Atlantic.

The poem can be found on poetrynation.com with the title "Worst Day Ever?", and the author is credited as Chanie Gorkin – a high school student from New York. (Yep, that's right – this poem may actually have been written by someone who hasn't even left school yet.)

"Chanie Gorkin is an 11th grader at an all girls' high school in Brooklyn, NY," reads her profile onpoetrynation.com. "She enjoys writing and music."
